Track & Field Superstar / Competitive Long-Distance Runner
Just when you thought a sprinter could not be an elite distance runner as well, Alisa brings a complete package of both. Defying physiological rationale, Alisa represents the 40 somethings out there who like to show the 20 year olds how it’s done. Most recently, Alisa was the 800 meter and 1500 meter champion at the 2007 U.S. Masters Outdoor Track & Field Championships, where she was also named USA Track & Field 2007 Masters Athlete of the Year. She is the World Record Holder of the indoor Masters mile (4:47.26) and holds the following U.S. Masters records: 2:07.57 for 800 meters, 4:46.29 for the mile outdoors, 2:05.75 for 800 meters, and 4:26.18 for 1500 meters indoors. In the long distance scene, she is a four-time winner of the Army Ten-Miler and posted a personal best of 2:49.26 at the 1999 Richmond Marathon.
Alisa is married and the mother of two daughters. In addition to working part-time at The Running Store, she also writes "On The Track" articles for The Washington Running Report and has set up her own coaching company.
Testimonial: "At my co-workers suggestion I began seeing Kerri weekly for physical therapy. At my first visit I was unable to run; even walking was painful. Silently I was convinced that I had suffered a severe injury that would require major surgery. I feared that I may never run again. Kerri quickly calmed my concerns while suggesting that I feel free to have more invasive tests to calm my concerns. After an evaluation Kerri prescribed a recovery program. I immediately began rehabilitative exercises and strength training. I was comforted by Kerri’s guidance. Her confidence allowed me to work through the discomfort and fear. I returned to track and field competition, and I was running pain free and fast thanks to Kerri’s careful assessment and guidance." - Alisa Harvey
